Larger but Smaller

"Crowds LIE, the more PEOPLE, the less TRUTH.
Integrity is never strengthen by multiplication."

E. Peterson is right. No? He puts this to a very simple test. Ask yourself, which promise is likely to be kept? A promise by a politician to a crowd? or between 2 friends?

Despite the detrimental effect crowds have on varying aspects of our lives. We cannot avoid being in a crowd. How then do we avoid from being crowd conditioned? How do we NOT fall into the trap of growing Larger but Smaller?

Larger but Smaller explained...

Warren Buffet contends: Modern civilization has raised the material level of millions of people beyond expectations of the past, has it succeeded in making people happier? To judge by the bulk of modern literature, we would have to say "NO"; and in some respects we might even have to say it has accomplished the reverse.

However, this isn't quite a modern phenomena, the Romans, back then, when they couldn't make a building more beautiful, sought to make it bigger. Likewise today, the practice continues, if we cannot do it well, we make it larger, we add dollars to our income, rooms to our houses, activities to our schedules, appointments to our calenders, yet our quality of life diminishes with each addition.

Conversely, every time we retrieve our lives from the crowd and respond to God's call, walk in Hi ways, we are that much more ourselves, more human. Every time we reject the habits of the crowd and practice the disciplines of faith, we become a little more alive.

I certainly wished i wrote all this inspiring paragraphs, but the credit goes to Peterson, i merely am a skilled paraphraser. But even as a ponder upon choices that lays before me, these messages seemed apt especially at this point in time.

This morning's message seem to be a follow up of my personal readings as well, even as choices are made, and desires presented to god, once again, one must question oneself, what is His will? Am i being crowd-conditioned? what are my motives? what do i want to achieve in the end? Am i chasing after the right things?

Though the "intelligence unit" of K has some estimation of my possible choice...at this point in time, much of it remains a mystery even to myself.

Ultimately, i don't want to be large (not literally) yet small (this, i already am. haha).
