We are often reminded of His resurrection on this very day, the fact that our sins are atoned for, yet this easter the word eternity stood out most, the promise of eternal life through the acceptance of JC as our Lord and Saviour, though embedded in the heart, perhaps was never fathom cognitively, I wonder whether its the function of age or time, but amongst the crowd that very special day, eternity was all I could think of.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
Have you every wondered what eternity means? Even in holy matrimony, couples vow "till death do us part." even this 'eternal' love where the world soughts after is bounded by death. Have you imagine what it would be like to love another eternally? Yet thats the promise we have been given and more. The promise to live forever, freed from sickness and diseases, a place where one would only experience heartfelt joy.
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." (Revelations 21:4)
Though hard to comprehend, when we think of eternity, the importance of here and now shrinks drastically. Our anxiety, fears and worries, seem so temporary. What are our 70-80 years here one earth compared to infinity? And suddenly all becomes clear, when you fix your eyes on eternity.
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God." (Colossians 3:1)
Would a god of the universe not know the hearts of His people? and though one cannot fathom the concept of eternity, wouldn't the knowledge of eternity alone cause you to live life differently?
